To say design is in my blood is an understatement. 

I grew up dreaming of big houses and cutting out pictures from magazines to visualize what my future home might look like. From there I went to a small business college and received my A.A.S. in Interior Design after a few years of stop and go. I started a family somewhere in the middle, but always knew that my passion for interior design was where I wanted to focus my career.

From there I worked in several design related fields – Hospitality, Resort & Luxury Residential, Commercial, Government, Healthcare…. the list goes on. My early career took me from large commercial architectural firms to small stand-alone design studios. It didn’t take long before I realized that I wanted to call the shots.

I was tired of architects taking credit for my work, managers and owners using me as a work horse only to retrieve my meager paycheck every 2 weeks. So I made a plan to venture out on my own.

I had zero interest in residential design and when I launched my business in 2011 I could not find any resources to help me navigate the complex world of commercial interiors. I could manage a project perfectly but had little to no experience in tackling marketing, fee structure, contract management, taxes and on and on….

In the aftermath of the Great Recession, I not so fearlessly embarked on my entrepreneurial journey and doubled my income in the very first year. During that time many experienced professionals left the design world, creating a giant void in our industry.

We face a similar economic climate today and I see an opportunity to help raise the bar in our industry and keep talented individuals in the field they love.

I am making it my mission to help others by sharing my hard won expertise, provide templates and other tools that I didn't have.  Most selfishly I want to create a design community unmatched in our industry, one where we open our books, share our strategies, learn from each other and lift each other up.
